ARTIST TALK: IVAN GALUZIN
Tuesday 17th of April at 7.30 pm.
Academy of Contemporary Art
Ivan Galuzin (b. 1979 in Murmansk) is an artist based in Oslo working with installation, sound, painting, performance, text and poetry. His visual language is almost schizophrenic in combining the manic and destructive with the more esoteric, fragile an beautiful. His installations are complex compositions with a life on their own. They invade the space they are part leaving us with the feeling they have a direction and will of their own.
Galuzin graduated from The Art Academy in Oslo in 2006 and has exhibited in a number of institutional group shows, e.g. “Lights On” Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art 2008 Oslo and “SIA – spread isolated art” Kalmar Museum of Contemporary Art 2009 Kalmar. He also had several solo exhibitions e.g. at Freddy Nox Project Space, Oslo in 2010 and at Gallery Christian Torp, Oslo 2012. Ivan Galuzin has also curated a number of shows and has been the head of an artist run gallery Galuzin Gallery/TAFKAG from 2005 till 2007.
